A DRIVER had a lucky escape after losing control of her car and smashing into the entrance of the doctor’s surgery on Manchester Road, Woolston.

It is thought the female motorist took a corner too quickly in the rain, mounted the grass verge and crashed through the railings of the Padgate branch surgery before hitting the building just after 8am on Wednesday.

The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution but nobody else was hurt.

A police spokesman said: “A car collided with a low brick wall that forms part of the access to the doctor’s surgery in Manchester Road, Woolston.

“The building needed to be made safe before they could remove the car.”

A PCT spokesman said: “The practice is open again as normal but may have to close for a week to allow for essential building works.

“The temporary closure will not disrupt services for patients as during this time they will be able to use the main surgery at Padgate.”
