Victoria Park skatepark lights still broken
2:01pm Tuesday 22nd November 2011 in Latchford
SKATERS have been left in the dark after broken lights at a Latchford skatepark have gone unchanged.
The floodlights at Victoria Park Skatepark broke last year and despite continued complaints to the council they have not been changed.
Since the clocks went back at the end of last month, the earlier darkness has meant that without working lights many people cannot use the facility.
Jack Greaves, aged 21, of Pike Street, Stockton Heath, said: “In winter it is dark by the time I finish work so without the lights I cannot go to the park and carry out my hobby of bmxing which I love to do.
“There are lots of people who don’t come down any more, and they’re always asking if the lights are back on.”
Jack and other skatepark users have been inundating the council with requests for the lights to be fixed.
He said: “The council has not acted at all and has shown no interest in wanting to resolve the issue that affects me and many others in a big way.
“A lot of us have complained to the council time after time but we have only had one reply which said to wait for further information. Nothing has been done since this.”
