Whitley WI by Helen Carey MEMOIRS of a newspaper hack by former journalist, Mary Murtagh enthralled members.

Speaking about her work experience in Los Angeles, Stoke, Leicester and Liverpool. A coffee morning was recently held at Paula Priestner’s house in aid of Home Start.

Co-ordinator Sandra Martin spoke about how the charity helps families under pressure with children under five.

It is a very worthwhile charity that needs support, especially in the current economic climate.

Members were reminded about the official opening of the bee garden on, immediately before the church garden party and asked to help at the weeding session in the garden.

Hilary Duran was thanked for organising a patchwork session and Pat Gaskell and Chris Spittle for the excellent trip to the Emma Bridgewater Pottery and Biddulph Gardens.

Visitors and potential members are always welcome at any of our meetings and events.
