Great Sankey High School gets Royal approval
10:38am Thursday 6th October 2011 in Great Sankey
GREAT Sankey High School has become part of the oldest scientific academy which includes some of the world’s most eminent scientists.
The Royal Society’s associate schools and colleges make up a UK network of teachers who share their experience and help promote excellence in science and mathematics.
Sue Harrison, who submitted the school’s application, said: “We are delighted that Great Sankey High School has the opportunity to make a national contribution to science, technology, engineering and maths.
“Being an associate school will allow staff to use their enthusiasm and expertise to support the work and research of the Royal Society.”
The school retains the title for at least two years and will work with the Royal Society on areas including national education policy.
