Victim Support seeking victims and witnesses for focus groups

Victim Support is calling for victims and witnesses of crime in Warrington to take part in focus groups.

The Victim Services Advocates Project will be holding focus groups and individual interviews over the next three months for people affected by anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, sexual assault and hate crime.

Paul Gallagher, victim’s services advocate for Cheshire, said: “We want to find out how people have been treated either as a victim or a witness by the police and criminal justice system and whether they found suitable services to support them through this difficult time.”

Reports on the groups’ findings will be used to raise awareness of issues affecting victims and witnesses and to make sure that each new police and crime commissioner has these issues on their agenda when they are elected in November.

Victims must have experienced the crime within the past two years and not currently be involved in criminal justice proceedings or a court case relating to the crime.

l If you are interested in taking part in one of the groups or want to arrange an interview contact Paul Gallagher at paul.gallgher@victimsupport.org.uk or call 07506 724961.

--The police aren't interested in victims of crime.. That much is clear by the way those two brothers were left fend for themselves following a paving slab being thrown through their front window. The proliferation of armed robbery and sexual assault in this town also suggests Warrington is an easy target where policing is concerned.

Unless it's a cannabis grow operation or drivers breaking the speed limit, the police aren't interested it seems and seek to suggest that real crime with real victims "is extremely rare".

Well said, Bloody well said.
They dont even come out half the time they give you a crime number. Unless your a motorist (easy target) they dont want to know.
