Stride across Cheshire to help Macmillans

WALKERS are being urged to get out into the fresh air and take part in a lifesaving challenge for cancer research.

Joyce Santos, Macmillan Cancer Support's Warrington committee chairman, is asking people to take part in this year's Cheshire Trails so it can reach its yearly goal of £65,000.

The walk's sponsorship money is expected to be in the region of £11,000 and will go towards caring for sufferers and their families whose lives have been touched by the disease.

Joyce said: "If you haven't done so already please register to walk the Cheshire Trails today.

"99 per cent of Macmillan's income comes from voluntary donations and sponsorship such as this."

She added: "Without people walking the Cheshire Trails we would not be able to provide vital support services to people affected by cancer."

Janette Dowling from Padgate walked the Cheshire Trails in aid of Macmillan last year.

She said: "Me, my husband and our colleagues will definitely be walking the Cheshire Trails again this year.

"It's great to get our with your family in the fresh air in beautiful surroundings while knowing that you are raising money for an illness that affects one in three people."

The Trails will begin at the Ranger's Cabin opposite the Lymm Hotel this Sunday and there is a choice between a three and 10-mile walk. Things to see along the way are the Lymm heritage trail and the Bridgewater canal.
