WARRINGTON Rowing Club's Olivia Oakes helped Great Britain to fifth place in the girls' quadruple sculls at the Munich International Junior Regatta on Sunday.
The 17-year-old Lymm High School pupil was representing her country at junior level for the third successive year and, after finishing third in their heat, the crew of Oakes, Helen Preston, Katherine Copeland and Rachel Gamble-Flint finished fifth in the final in Germany.
Warrington Rowing Club had winners in four races at the Merseyside Regatta on Saturday. The club sent 32 rowers to the regatta at Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club and Louise Bailey was victorious in the girls' junior 13 single sculls, which was her first competitive race in the event.
Kate Furnell and Hannah Furnell were also making their debuts in the junior 13 double sculls and emerged triumphant, while Fae Atkinson and Frankie Sinnott won the junior 14 double sculls.
Tom Leather, Ed Sims, Rory O'Connor, Oli Brierley and cox Andy Mair teamed up to take first place in the boys' junior 15 coxed quadruple sculls.
