Altrincham choirs support MedEquip4Kids
9:00am Wednesday 2nd December 2009 in Christmas
THREE Altrincham choirs are tuning up to bring the sound of Christmas to Manchester Cathedral for a charity carol concert.
Hot Cinnamon, Di Voci and the choir from St Vincent’s Junior School, in Osborne Road, will be taking to the stage on Tuesday, December 8th to raise money for MedEquip4Kids.
MedEquip4Kids funds medical equipment and improves facilities at children’s wards and neo-natal units at hospitals across the North West. The charity is funding Clown Doctors to visit the wards of North Manchester General Hospital and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital spending time every week with the young in-patients and keeping them amused with music, jokes, magic and laughter to help them forget they are in hospital.
The Clown Doctors cost more than £30,000 a year to fund and the proceeds from the Manchester Cathedral concert will be donated to the project.
Also performing with Hot Cinnamon, Di Voci and St Vincent’s will be choirs from Farrowdale House Preparatory School in Shaw; Hawthorns Community School in Audenshaw; Green Lane Special School in Warrington; Buckstones Primary School’s brass band from Shaw; and St Monica’s RC High School’s orchestra from Prestwich.
MedEquip4Kids’ fundraiser, Rose Franks, said: “This concert is one of the highlights of our festive calendar and a fantastic opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit while raising money for MedEquip4Kids and helping children in hospital get the best Christmas possible.”
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, are £6 for adults, accompanied children free, and available from MedEquip4Kids on 0161 798 1600 or via www.medequip4kids.org.uk.
