New Years Resolutions-so far so good!

It has now been a month since I decided to give up my car. It has rainedand rainedblown a gale and recently been quite nippy! Nevertheless I have no regrets. The children have got used to the idea of getting ready a bit quicker in the morning and we no longer have to negotiate walking to school, they don't have a choice which isn't a bad thing, and as my seven year old son said last week "isn't it fun cycling in hail!"

It has been surprisingly liberating not having to drive. I feel more relaxed, more in touch with the world and although I do have a blister on my toe, I am slowly sneaking back into my size 10 jeans again(YESSS!).

I have got to grips with Warrington's bus service; it's really good and have got into town quickly with no parking stresses. The driver on Friday afternoon's no.38 is hilarious and is worth the trip just for entertainment value -Peter Kay watch out!

By necessity I have needed to get into Manchester and Preston so went by train, no problems at all and I recently took the kids to Liverpool museum and from their point of view the train ride was part of the treat!

So all in all I do think that it's working out and am happy that we have stopped cocooning in the car.

Okay so sometimes the weather is rubbish but I always like to think of something my friend told me on moving to out-doorsy' Sweden where they have the phrase...

"there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!"

Go on, dig out your wellies!
