Points of view

  • Straight Talking

IT is that time of the year again when the road tax has to be paid. read more

  • Where is our hunger?

Paul Cullen stated that he was pleased with his side's performance at The Willows, despite the Reds coming back strong late in the game, saying "We won't over-concern ourselves with the points we shipped in at the back end of the game because we put a lot of effort in to get in front at 34-18." He also said: "The bottom line is we came for the win, and we are going home with it." read more

  • Community

I would like to thank Ken and Pat of Eastford Road, Lower Walton - some people still care about their surroundings. They have taken time out to try to clear the green algae from the Old Quay Canal. It is good to see that community spirit is alive and well in Lower Walton. The residents living in the surrounding area will be much appreciative. It is amazing what people can do when they get together. read more

  • Passing blame for teen killer

IT IS a case of who to blame again, isn't it (My nephew, the killer? Guardian, April 12)? read more

  • Intimidated by youths

In Dudlows Green, on Longwood Road, there is a very pleasant little play area - two safely enclosed and gated sections with a slide, swings and climbing frames, within a larger area encompassing a small green and little wooded area. We visit frequently, until today, when pleasure turned to disgust, unease and disappointment. read more

  • Nearly £1,000 for heart aid

Warrington St John Ambulance took part in the national Tesco Challenge on March 30-31 and raised £940.69 for the charity. read more

  • Why exempt from the law?

I have to reply to S Harrison, Bolton, (Points of View, March 29) for the unfair comments suggesting the people of Warrington change the council because of being booked for parking in an obvious non-parking place while working on one of Warrington's most precious listed historic buildings'. read more

  • Could bus cameras help?

I WOULD like to respond to Mr Featham's recent letter regarding wheelchairs and the buses. read more

  • Blot on the landscape

I WOULD like to respond to the letter from D J Broadbent, of Grappenhall, regarding planners on holiday'. read more

  • Talk about quick off mark!

AFTER parking my car on the market multi-storey car park, as I do every week, I was shocked to find on my return that I had been issued with a parking ticket for parking outside the white lines of the bay. What made matters worse was that the ticket was issued about 30 seconds after I had left my car! read more

  • PCT is a panto baddie

Well, just when you thought the pantomime season was over, up pops our Primary Care Trust (PCT) with a production of its own. Sadly, this one does not star any well-known comedians, just a cast of pompous power-mad pen-pushers and number twiddlers. read more

  • Why change GP system?

On behalf of my husband and myself I wish to protest strongly against the new proposals to centralise NHS care in Warrington. read more

  • Community living in fear

I AM writing in response to your article on the terrible murder of Mr Atherton. I live in the neighbourhood and wish to say how the residents tried to stop the situation getting to where it did. read more
