THE long-anticipated traffic information signs will be fully operative when a 'telecommunications problem' is resolved.
The signs were built last year but have barely been used so far, although they were supposed to be working by January.
A Warrington Borough Council spokesman said: "These signs are complete and operational although we are currently actively working with O2 to resolve a telecommunications problem.
"The signs have already been successfully used recently to notify drivers of incidents including emergency highways works, planned closures, and traffic signal failures."
As well as the traffic information signs, there are similar signs used to give directions to car parks and say how full they are.
The spokesman added:
"These signs are complete and work is ongoing to install the monitoring equipment required at each of the car parks to allow the required information about the number of spaces available to be displayed."
