Farmer swaps his pigs for pedals

A PIG farmer is already planning his next challenge after arriving back from a gruelling 430-mile cycle trek.

Steve Garner, of Pigwood Farm, Fishpool Road, Delamere, raised more than £1,800 for Scope after he journeyed from Wembley to Berlin in a six-day World Cup ride.

He said: "I'd raised £1,800 up to the week before I went and there's still more to come - I'm made up.

"I made a lot of good friends on the trip as well and I've put my name down for another one for the rugby world cup.

"I'd like to thank all of my friends and family and everyone who helped and donated."

Steve was among 51 cyclists who followed the football route alongside the River Elbe to the Olympic stadium, Berlin, setting off on June 4 and finishing on June 10.

Steve will be collecting sponsorship until August 4 and anyone who would like to donate should visit www.justgiving.com/stevega
