Jones stays cool for the league leaders

SWAN top Division A of the Earlestown Summer Darts League.

That is thanks to Ste Jones' 21-dart victory over Jeff Pierce handing Swan a 5-4 success against St Davids this week.

Swan, who also had impressive performances from Doug Smith in 21 and Ste Branagan in 25, went 3-1 ahead but were clawed back to 4-4 with stand-out wins from Phil Arnold in 21 and Phil Whitney in 22.

Viaduct won 6-3 at Earl Cons with Dave Pojunas winning in 26, J Carrey in 22, Dave Smith in 24, Les Wilkie in 25 and Ste Morse, who scored a 180, in 23.

In Division B, Newton Social B beat Chapel House 5-4.

On target were Mike Smith, Stuart Austin, John Thompson, Dave Villers.

Chapel House won the last three through J Woods, J Parkin, S Knockton.

Houghton Arms beat Pear Tree 6-3 in Division C with Rob Grindley winning in 25. B Smith's 21 was best for Pear Tree.

Wellington beat Engine 6-3 thanks to Eddie Richardson, Les Banner and Paul Nolan, who won in 18. For Engine Ian Smith recorded 22, Barry Gornall 20 and R Smith 30.

In the dominoes section, Division A is narrowly led by Earlestown Cons despite them losing 3-2 to Viaduct.

Eddie Molyneux and Fred Spencer had levelled the game at 2-2 but Jimmy Carrey and Carl Jones saw Viaduct home against Colin Halliwell and Doug Smith.

St Davids went to Swan and won 5-0, with Barry Earnshaw and Steve Dunne sealing the points. Eric and Billy Puzzar rounded off the win 2-0.

Houghton lead Division C after beating Pear Tree 3-2 with a last-leg walkover from C Pritchard and P Morris due to Pear Tree having no players left.

Wellington went into second place with a 4-1 victory over Engine.
