Earlestown impress in win

EARLESTOWN took on high-flying Worsley and produced an impressive victory in the Southport and District Cricket League.

Earlestown won the toss and put Worsley into bat.

Andy MaClaren produced a fine opening spell, taking 3 for 7, and at one point Worsley were 25 for 5.

The middle order of Ogden and Woods steadied the ship but, with the impressive Mike Dudley finishing with 3 for 27, Worsley finished on 129.

Earlestown quickly went about their business with Mike Dudley scoring 25 and the experienced MaClaren scoring highest with 40.

Although a couple of wickets fell, Dave Ashton and Jordan Pannell saw Earlestown home to victory.

Earlestown's seconds made it a successful day for the club with a winning draw against Dalton.

Earlestown amassed 157 with Stuart Swift among the runs with a solid 42. Dalton finished on 117 for 7 with Brent Eccleston taking 6 for 50.
