FANCY cycling but feel a bit nervous?
Don't worry, expert free tuition is now available.
"People might want to ride to work but wonder if they could cope with all the extra traffic," said Louise Shannon, Halton Council's assistant road safety officer.
"We can tailor-make a course to suit your needs. We want to get more people cycling, more safely, more often."
Steve Evans, community paramedic, only mastered two wheels aged 49!
"I was never allowed a bike as a child because I was always a clumsy kid," said Steve, now 51, of Runcorn.
He made his debut ride at Town Park.
"I got on my wife's bike, put my foot on the pedal and I was away," recalled Steve.
"Now, I absolutely love it."
Steve was the first student on a new adult cycling course.
"The quality of training was excellent," he said.
"At the end, I felt much more confident."
Training is offered on three levels and free helmets and high visibility jackets are provided.
