Footpath application refused

AN application for a footpath in Stockton Heath has been recommended for refusal.

Residents have asked for the path running from London Road to Greenfields Avenue along the Bridgewater Canal to be designated a public footpath.

They claim it has been freely used by the public for 20 years, and can now be designated a footpath.

One man said he has used the path from the rear of his property on Waterside as a short cut to Stockton Heath for more than 50 years.

The land is owned by Warrington Borough Council and The Spirit Group, which owns the London Bridge pub.

The final decision will be taken by Warrington Borough Council's traffic committee tomorrow, Wednesday.
