Homes scoop prestigious award for partnership

TRAIL-blazing eco-friendly homes in Runcorn have won a prestigious award.

The £5.3m Castlefields development scooped the RBS Best Partnership Project award at the 2006 regional property awards.

"We are delighted to win this award as it recognises both the quality of this development and the strong relationship we have with partners and residents," said Clare Budden, CDS managing director.

"It has really helped local people to get a foot on the property ladder.

"PLUS and CDS are strongly committed to providing affordable home ownership solutions."

Waterbridge Mews is part of a multi-million pound regeneration of the 30-year-old Runcorn New Town estate.

It provides 58 affordable new homes beside the Bridgewater Canal - 30 for shared ownership and 28 to rent.

All the shared ownership apartments were snapped up within months of going on the market.

The rented properties have provided accommodation for people moving out of demolished deck flats.

High levels of insulation and sound proofing, energy efficient central heating, low energy lighting, waste recycling storage and low flush toilets are just some of the environmental features included in the design.

Timber frames from sustainable sources were used to build the two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses.

Roof terraces, balconies and outdoor seating areas provide a high quality environment for residents.
