Shocked to read about closure plans for home

My sister and I were shocked to read of the proposed closure of the Ethel Hanley Home.

This home, we understand, was gifted by Ethel Hanley to provide services for senior citizens who require help and assistance in being looked after.

Ethel Hanley home has been providing this service in the borough for over 50 years and to say that it is now not viable is nonsense.

As the council own the lease then they should be working in partnership, providing some financial assistance to CLS who delivers an excellent and valuable service.

If they cannot offer funds then help them via your bid writers to secure funds from other sources.

After all, how would you feel to be cast out of the only secure place that you have lived in for over 15 years?

Come on Halton Council, show your support and do all you can to ensure this quality service remains viable, for all concerned.

After all, some of the people who live here may have no-one who can take care of them, so what will become of them?!

And what do the council propose to do with the property and land if this home closes? Lorna & Christine Plumpton,

Widnes
