Mason hits his third successive half century in Rylands victory

RYLANDS stretched their lead at the top of Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance Division Three with a 109-run win at Port Sunlight.

The home team were bowled out for 57 runs as Rylands stormed to their fourth win on the trot.

Rylands, who entertain Mossley at Gorsey Lane on Saturday at 1pm, were first into bat and posted a challenging total of 166 for 8 thanks to Ian Mason hitting his third successive half century of runs.

In reply, Sunlight were soon in trouble as Kevin Addison made early inroads, taking two wickets for 11 runs.

Rylands' seconds claimed a maximum 25-point win as Sunlight's fourths were unable to raise a team.

Rylands under 15s lost by three wickets at Runcorn, where Brad Jackson led the batting with 16 runs and Luke Ince took four wickets.

The club's under 13s lost a hastily arranged friendly with Castrol under 15s after their original opponents Runcorn were unable to raise a team.

Rylands posted a challenging 97 for 8 on a difficult pitch with 11-year-old opener Amir Aslam batting throughout the innings to finish on 35 not out.

Castrol reached their target for the loss of five wickets with only two overs to spare.
