Gateshead Storm 10
Warrington Wizards 54
WARRINGTON Wizards will have a week to bask in the glory of Saturday's comprehensive victory at Gateshead Storm in LHF Healthplan National League Three.
Wizards are without a game until they travel to Bramley Buffaloes on June 10 and coach Eddie Harris wants them to start climbing the table after an encouraging result in the north east.
He said: "The lads have worked very hard over the past fortnight in training and that hard work certainly paid off on Saturday.
"We kept our discipline very well and that enabled us to control the game. We got off to a great start and never took our foot off the pedal.
"We need to build on that win now and start to move up the table."
Wizards ran in 34 unanswered points in a blistering first-half display at Gateshead, with Chris Malone opening the scoring with a try converted by captain Chris Mellor.
Ian Stephenson and Storm's Craig Fisher were then sent to the sin bin for an altercation and man of the match Danny Shaw took advantage of the extra space by crossing for Wizards.
Shaw scored again soon afterwards and the returning Stephenson then touched down twice, either side of Jon Cole's try, to put Wizards in control.
Gateshead pulled a try back after the interval but Craig Harris and Andy Addison responded with tries, with Mellor and Stuart Pirrie completing the scoring after another Storm effort.
Wizards: Chris Malone; Ian Stephenson, Danny Shaw, Jon Cole, Stuart Pirrie; Craig Harris, Steven Dykes; Luke Worsley, Wes Lawton, Neil Smith, Anthony Beckett, Andy Addison, Chris Mellor. Subs: Lee Hunter, Steven Duncan, Nick Irving, Dave Kelly.
