LATCHFORD'S under 15s side defended heroically as they defeated Blackbrook to win the North West Counties Cup at Golborne Parkside's ground.

Ashley Cornelia dummied his way over to put Unicorns in front and England under 15 international Joe Mellor then raced 40 metres for a try.

Blackbrook reduced the deficit to two points but Antony Britton powered over from close range before strong defending and the goals scored by Richard Taylor ensured that Latchford came out on top.

CROSFIELDS ended the season with victory at Pilkingtons.

Tries were scored by B Roberts, N Holland, J Walton and B Hutch, with G Hamilton adding two goals and J McKie landing a goal and a drop goal.
