Arts project shows what's big in Japan

YOUNGSTERS at Brierley Primary School in Crewe got to grips with some Oriental culture in a special extended arts project with a difference.

The children spent two weeks working on a Japanese-themed project and their parents were invited into the classroom to join in the fun.

The activities included model making, printing and dance workshops, and some of the completed work will feature at the Artscool Festival.

The fortnight culminated in an open day when friends and relatives were able to come in and see the work on display.

Headteacher Carl Litchfield said: "We are always looking for ways to allow parents a greater insight into their children's education.

"The open day was a great success with a large number of parents attending and it's something we will definitely be repeating in the future."
