Twice as nice for day centre

A DAY centre that helps people with physical disabilities is celebrating scooping two awards as part of Adult Learners Week.

Dallam Day Centre was awarded with Warrington Borough Council's Life Long Learning Award while Caroline Hollingsworth from the centre was named volunteer of the year at the Adult Learners Week Community Supported Learning awards.

The centre was selected as the winner in recognition of the work that the staff and volunteers do to help people with a range of physical problems brought on by conditions like strokes, multiple sclerosis and brain injuries acquired from road traffic accidents.

The centre runs a number of courses in conjunction with Warrington Collegiate such as art, pottery and Spanish which aim to help increase their client's independence and build

on their confidence.

Dave Taylor, team manager, said: "We are very proud of our links with Warrington Collegiate and work hard to design

courses to meet peoples needs.

"Everyone at the centre deserves credit for these awards, its fantastic recognition."
