Dip in form leaves rugby league team on the end of big loss

Liverpool Buccaneers 50

Runcorn Vikings 4

RUNCORN Vikings suffered from a dip in the excellent form that has served them well so far, emerging from a bruising Rugby League Conference Cheshire Division encounter at Liverpool Buccaneers on the wrong end of a 50-4 scoreline.

The home side had the game wrapped up by the interval with five unanswered tries giving them a 26-0 lead.

The first of those tries came minutes into the game with Joel Parker touching down.

Runcorn started the second period in slightly better fashion.

Putting Buccaneers' defence under pressure paid dividends when Tim Leech scored the visitors' only try of the game, pouncing on a grubber.

But a try from Steve Brown killed off the resistance, with John Welsh following suit.

Toleman added his second and Kieran Lacey touched down for a double.

Vikings will want to put this blip behind them and concentrate on Saturday's game at Warrington Wizards A.
