Sexual assault trial set

A MAN has appeared in court accused of committing sex offences against two young girls 30 years ago.

Kenneth Kirwan, 60, is alleged to have indecently assaulted an eight-year-old at least once between December 1, 1973 and December 1, 1976.

He is also accused of committing the same offence against a girl aged under six between September 29, 1973 and December 28, 1975.

Kirwan, of Iveagh Close, Palacefields, Runcorn, pleaded not guilty to both charges at Warrington Crown Court on Monday.

Kirwan, a short, stocky, grey-haired man, would have been in his late 20s when the alleged offences - which he denies - occurred.

He will stand trial on May 17.
