Man admits murder

A WINSFORD man accused of murdering a Middlewich resident has sensationally changed his plea on the day his trial was due to start.

Gerard Robert McKeown, 26, of Dene Drive, admitted he stabbed former Northwich schoolboy Gavin McAleer, 27, to death at the Vaults pub, Wheelock Street, on September 1 last year.

He will be sentenced tomorrow, Wednesday.
