FASTA Pasta is one of several town centre traders who may be moved by the council.
Their trading licences are up for renewal and councillors want to make sure they fit in with their locations.
A council committee met last week and decided to consult people before making a decision on renewing the licences in the summer.
The traders affected are Sean Sharkey and his Fasta Pasta van, Mr and Mrs Alibhai who sell flowers next to Holy Trinity Church, Tony Smith who sells baked potatoes in Bank Street and Bernard Manfredi who sells ice creams at the top of Bridge Street in the summer.
The meeting heard a complaint about the location of Fasta Pasta was made to the council by Richard Buttery of Grappenhall, who believes it is detrimental to the art works.
Clr Ted Finnegan said that, given the number of shoppers who see the van, he would have expected more complaints if it really was an issue, especially when 'people are trying to earn a living'.
However, Clr Kate Hannon said: "I don't think it lends itself to the area where it is and I think we should look at somewhere else for it."
Afterwards, Mr Sharkey from Fasta Pasta said: "I am happy to meet with the town centre manager and speak to them about different locations."
