Here is the moos...

IT'S been a challenging week for a newborn heifer calf that was delivered at a Comberbach farm more than a month prematurely.

But young Milly, who lives at Brook Farm, has proved to be a bit of a fighter and is going from strength to strength at her home in Cogshall Lane.

Tom Wilkinson, a retired farmer at the Wilkinson Brothers farm, said his granddaughter Ruth, eight, formed an instant bond to the young animal, which was born six weeks early.

He said: They don't normally survive but my granddaughter really took a shine to her. The problem when they are so tiny is that they are often difficult to save but at this moment in time she's thriving and is fighting a day at a time."

Ruth, pictured above with Milly, has been spending most of her half term holiday at the farm caring for the calf and hopes that she will continue to build up her strength. c060940
