Councillor reassures residents about waste

ROTTING rubbish will not be dumped on Knutsford's doorstep, the town was assured last week.

Borough and town councillor Tony Ranfield said Cheshire County Council did not want to build its waste recycling centre on the Parkgate Industrial Estate after all. "I have been informed that Cheshire is negotiating for another site elsewhere in the borough," he told worried residents who attended last week's town council meeting.

"There is no chance it is going to happen on Parkgate."

Councillor Ranfield said he could not reveal the location of the other site but assured residents that it was not near Knutsford.

Parkgate had been named as a potential site in the county council's draft replacement waste local plan, which is expected to be adopted by the end of this year.
