Lymm go up

LYMM Hockey Club secured promotion to North West Division Eight South after clinching a 6-2 victory against South Cheshire on Saturday.

Mat Cooper scored four goals, completing his third hat-trick in as many games, as the runaway leaders of Division Nine South dominated the match.

Lymm, who face Warrington at the weekend, were 3-0 up at half time as penalty corners resulted in goals for Andrew Scowcroft and Cooper before an excellent move was rounded off by Cooper.

Injuries and illnesses forced Lymm to play several players out of position but they coped well, with Sean Barton earning the man of the match award in his first league match in the sport.

Lymm's opponents came back into the game in the second period but scored three more goals to ease to victory.
