Over estate is getting a raw deal

A COMMUNITY leader believes the Over estate is treated unfairly with council funding after claims a roundabout has been in need of repair for more than a year.

Colin Murray, chairman of Over4All residents' Association, has been calling for the roundabout on Lodge Drive to be repaired for 18 months but believes his requests are falling on deaf ears.

He said: "This roundabout is falling apart and nothing is getting done about it.

"Workmen came out on Wednesday to fix a street light and all they managed to do was get their cherry picker stuck and churn up the roundabout even more.

"Why anyone would think it's a good idea to park something as heavy as that on grass at this time of year is beyond me."

Colin feels the Over estate is getting a raw deal compared to other parts of the town when it comes to investment in roads and other services.

He said: "When you look at other estates they are getting all sorts like speed calming measures and new road surfaces.

"That is all very well and I can't complain if it needs doing, but we need it doing here too and no one ever seems to care.

"I have asked Cheshire County Council to sort this roundabout but all I ever get is a negative response."

Colin is now calling on the county council to invest more money to improve life for residents living in Over.

He said: "We want to live in a nice environment and when you get people carrying out repair work who do more harm than good then it's very disappointing.

"All we ever get round here are quick fixes so the job needs doing again in a short period of time.

"Perhaps if they invested some more money and carried out jobs properly in the first place they would actually save money in the long run."
