THEIR DAD WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD

THE young children of a Winsford man who died suddenly after suffering a brain haemorrhage have raised £1,300 for the ambulance crew that tried to save him.

Nigel Boughen, 36, died at home on November 29 last year and two of his children, Victoria, 10, and Tiffany, seven, decided to raise as much money as they could for the ambulance service.

Nigel's wife Alyson, of Cambridge Avenue, said: "Even at the funeral they were walking round with a collection box trying to raise money.

"I'm very proud of them for what they have done because this has been an horrendous time for us all as Nigel died so suddenly.

"They also went out carol singing at Christmas and have done various other things to raise money."

Alyson, who has five children including 20-month-old Samuel, has also paid tribute to the ambulance crew that desperately tried to save her husband's life.

She said: "There was absolutely nothing they could do to save him but they still tried for more than an hour and I can't describe how much we appreciated that.

"It was an incredibly traumatic experience for us but they were brilliant and we just wanted to do something to thank them.

"People wanted to give me money but I told them it would be going to the ambulance service instead."

Nigel, who worked for Walker Sign and Street Furniture Ltd, arrived home from work at 8pm on the day he died complaining of a pain behind his ear and less than two hours later he was unconscious and fighting for his life.

Alyson, who has also lost a one-year-old daughter to meningitis, said: "He came home and went straight to bed which was unusual.

"My youngest son Samuel, who was just 17 months old at the time, was cuddling him in bed when it happened.

"We had absolutely no idea that there was anything wrong with him so it came as an enormous shock and it is something that I'm struggling to accept has happened. But my children have been incredible and I'm so proud of them."
