Indies celebrate

NANTWICH Independent Party celebrated five years of 'putting Nantwich first' at their annual meeting last week.

Members looked back on a successful 2005, which saw Cllr Arthur Moran retain his county council seat with an increased majority and Cllr Paul Abbott win the town council by-election in June with 58 per cent of the vote.

This result meant the party kept their three borough council and six town council seats.

Cllr Moran said: "At all three levels of local government Nantwich independents have continued putting their case for Nantwich and putting Nantwich first."

The party now plans to put candidates forward in every ward for the forthcoming elections.

And if the mayoral referendum results in a 'yes' vote a Nantwich Independent candidate will certainly be in the running.
