Long, cold night to help orphans

TWO Lymm men swapped the comfort of their beds for a church graveyard in an innovative charity bid.

Instead of spending Friday night tucked up at home, Philip Savage and Danny Newton braved the sub-zero temperatures.

And the event was all to raise the profile of street children living in Romania and to help pay for a children's home being built in the eastern European country.

As reported in the Warrington Guardian last year, members of Lymm Baptist Church are helping to pay for a new home which will house up to 40 children.

Friday's event in the grounds of the Higher Lane church helped pass on the message of what sort of conditions the orphans live in.

Philip said: "I am not sure what the temperature actually was, but it was below freezing.

"It was the longest and coldest night I can personally remember."

However it was well worth it as the pair raised more than £1,500 on the night.

To sponsor the pair make cheques payable to CCM, mark your envelope Sleep4romania and send to Lymm Baptist Church, Higher Lane, Lymm, Cheshire, WA13 0AZ
