Charity begins at home for Hannah

A WARRINGTON man whose baby daughter made a miraculous recovery from meningitis is calling for help to raise cash for research into the disease.

Little Hannah Morgan was only 17 months old when she was struck down with a serious strain of the fatal disease in December 2004.

Unconscious for four days, her parents, Greg and Cheryl, were told by doctors that had they not sought help in time they could have lost their little girl.

The couple kept a constant vigil at their helpless daughter's bedside, praying that she would defy the odds and pull round.

And after a week Hannah was able to sit up and eat.

After two weeks she was released from hospital just in time for Christmas. And six months later she was given the all clear.

Her dad, former Lymm High School student Sgt Greg Morgan, who is currently serving in Germany in the 28 Engineer Regiment, said: "The symptoms started off like a slight fever, she had a runny nose and a temperature. As the day progressed she got worse, sleeping and waking up crying.

"A little later she seemed to be unable to wake up and would arch her back as if in pain and crying, we didn't think about meningitis at first but as I was on the phone to the doctor the penny dropped. We quickly got her to the hospital and thank God we did."

Mr Morgan, who will be running the Flora London Marathon on April 23 in aid of the Meningitis Trust, added: "Little Hannah was lucky enough to recover from this devastating disease but many people are not. Please dig deep and sponsor me online on www.just giving.com/gregmorgan

"Donating through the site is simple, fast and secure and it's the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Meningitis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28 per cent will be added to your gift at no cost to you."
