Archer in action in Kuala Lumpur

PHIL Archer commences his challenge at the Maybank Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur today, Thursday, on the back of another money-spinning display.

Birchwood Golf Club professional Archer moves on to the next leg of the PGA European Tour after earning just under £4,000 for finishing 57th in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth, Australia.

But he will again be disappointed that, after promising rounds of 72, 70 and 70, he slipped down the field with a final-day 75.

Poker night

WARRINGTON Wolves star Mike Wainwright is staging a poker night as part of his Testimonial year.

Wedge's teammates will act as dealers and players on 10 tables and at the end of the night there will be prizes for the player with the most chips on each table.

The event will take place at the Bridge Bar in Latchford on Tuesday at 8pm.

There is an entry fee of £25 per player in advance.

Those wishing to book a place or gain further details should contact Mike on 07725 646066.
