Community award for Asda store

ASDA Westbrook has received a special award thanks to its work in the community.

The shop has been designated as a 'Store of the Community' by supermarket officials, based at its Asda House headquarters.

The award recognises work such as holding healthy eating sessions in store, providing blood pressure tests, interacting with nearby schools like St Philip's Primary School on a maths course and helping with a gardening project at Wood Legh care home.

Kathy Robinson, Asda spokesman, said: "Not every store gets accredited with this title so it's quite a big thing for us.

"It covers a wide range of areas, such as health and education and the criteria is slightly different each year.

"We sent off an application pack before Christmas and received confirmation last week - so we're delighted."
