DEATH ON OUR ROADS

AN elderly woman and a young man were killed in road smashes 48 hours apart.

Warren Lee Roberts, from Lymm, died after his car hit a fence and flipped over at an accident blackspot.

The 23-year-old was killed when his black Fiat Brava was involved in the collision on Lymm Road at 8.30pm Wednesday. No other vehicles were involved.

Firefighters were also on the

scene and have warned motorists to take care as the road has a poor accident record.

A spokesman for Stockton Heath fire station, which wasdealing with the incident, said: "We need to ask drivers to drive carefully on this stretch of road because, over the years, there have been numerous serious accidents on the stretch.

"This one has been fatal."

Two days later, an 82-year-old woman was killed after her car was in a collision with a Ford Focus on Blackbrook Avenue,

Cinnamon Brow, on Friday.

The incident happened at 1.30pm near the junction with Ballater Drive.

A spokesman for Warrington police said: "The woman died from her injuries at Warrington Hospital a few hours later."

The 42-year-old driver was not hurt.
