Boss makes his Mark

HE RACED through the streets of the capital with a burning ambition - to finish the London Marathon.

Mark Hill, new manager of Asda's £21m Widnes store, was thrilled to bits to complete the gruelling 26-mile trek last year, raising £5,000 for breast cancer.

"I had a close relative who had been through it," said father-of-three Mark, of Bolton, who is currently managing Aintree Asda. "It touches us all - colleagues and families."

Mark welcomed the breast cancer screening unit to Asda's car park.

"I've been with Asda for 20 years, working my way up from being a colleague," said Mark. "Asda isn't just about selling baked beans, it's about people, working here and those living in the community."

Current manager, Widnes-born John Tobin, takes over the Runcorn store at the end of February.
