Jade's dish earns place in FutureChef national final

TALENTED chef Jade Barker is looking to win over the judges in the finals of a national competition.

Jade is a Year 11 student at Eaton Bank School in Congleton, and has won a place in the final of FutureChef 2006.

She earned her place after winning a regional competition at South Trafford College in Altrincham.

Each of the 12 competitors had to produce a two-course meal for two people for no more than £7.50.

The main course had to be served within an hour.

Jade's winning main course was stuffed chicken fillets with cherry tomatoes and roasted vegetables, served with rice on a bed of spinach drizzled with pesto sauce.

The dessert was chocolate tiramisu, and the judges included Robert Craggs, the head chef at a restaurant in the Harvey Nichols store in Manchester.

Robert will be supporting Jade in her challenge for the national title, the final being held in London on March 10.
