Family came first for farmer

NANTWICH farmer died suddenly after falling on a trampoline at his home on Saturday.

An inquest has been opened into the death of 38-year-old Mark Vernon at The Parklands Farm in Hatherton.

Mark's wife Hazel said their children David, aged 11, Richard, aged nine, Lisa, aged five and two-year-old Joe had kept her going since her husband's death.

She said: "The children say to themselves 'Daddy was proud of us and we will get through this' but they have good and bad days.

"Mark was a successful farmer who loved his family and friends. He loved to play football with the children and enjoyed new challenges.

"Recently he had started working less to spend more time with his family - he had always worked so hard but his family always came first.

"Mark enjoyed life to the full and we are all truly devastated."

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to the farm in response to a sudden death at 11.10pm on Saturday.

"He is believed to have fallen on a trampoline and there are no suspicious circumstances."

Mark's funeral will be held at St James' Church in Audlem at 11am on Tuesday.
