Designer clothes store targetted by raiders again

THIEVES stole over £2,000 of designer clothes last week during the second raid on Nantwich's Pockets store in two months.

The audacious daytime theft occurred on Friday at 10am at the Pepper Street store.

Witnesses saw two men enter the shop and grab several suits, making no attempt to hide their appearance.

Eyewitness Peter Cameron, was walking past the shop as the men fled.

He said: "I saw them shoot out of the shop and down Manor Road then get into a dark-coloured Ford Fiesta.

"The shop keeper looked very shaken."

Police are appealing for witnesses that may have seen the pair drive off.

Sgt Dave Jones said: "Two males went into Pockets at around 10am, grabbed an armful of clothing and ran out of the shop, across Beam Street and into a waiting vehicle.

"The member of staff on duty stepped towards the pair as they gathered up suits, but he backed off when they approached him.

"Witnesses said they were scruffily dressed and looked like builders.

"We circulated the vehicles details throughout Cheshire, as the offenders may be from out of the area, and we are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident."

The store suffered losses of around £40,000 of Armani and other designer clothes on December 1, when an orchestrated gang conducted an early morning raid.

Police patrols chased the getaway car but lost the offenders as they left Crewe.

Sgt Jones said: "Pockets are a target for thieves because of the high value items on display."
