Poppy Appeal veteran stands down

CUDDINGTON Poppy Appeal Organiser Vernon Kettle is retiring after 40 years of fundraising.

And he is appealing for a replacement organiser to come forward to take over his role.

This year's appeal, undertaken in Sandiway and Cuddington and the neighbouring villages of Whitegate and Little Budworth, raised £5,234.75.

Vernon, 72, of Glebe Road, said: "On behalf of the Royal British Legion may I offer a sincere thank you to everyone concerned and all who have donated to the appeal throughout the past 40 years. "

Anyone who is interested in the role, ring Vernon on 01606 882516.
