Site would be restored with 3.2m tonnes of household rubbish

THE proposals for the £25million recycling facilities will allow the extraction of some two million cubic metres of clay from the site,

The Clayhanger site would then be restored by the 'landfilling' of some 3.2 million tonnes of household rubbish.

Recycling and composting facilities are also to be built.

Commenting on the planning decision Steve Jennings for the Waste Recycling Group, said: "It has been a long process to answer all of the issues raised.

"We are very pleased the county has granted planning permission for a facility which will play a key role in managing Cheshire's waste.

"Moving forwards we would like to work closely with the local community, to ensure that we are a good neighbour.

"One of our early tasks will be to set up a Community Liaison Committee, to act as a link between WRG and local people.

"Anyone interested in this can contact us by email at clayhanger.planning@wrg.co.uk."

WRG does not expect to start work on site before summer 2007.
