The fine art of romance is on display

ONE couple are guaranteed the perfect Valentine's Day.

These young lovers were painted more than a century ago by artist Luke Fildes and are on display until February 25.

They are part of the Wonders of Warrington exhibition at the town centre museum.

The painting shows the young Fildes, who trained at Warrington Museum, serenading Fanny Woods, who was later to become his wife, watched by her sister and brother.

Fildes went on to forge a successful career in the London art scene, illustrating Charles Dickens' works, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and painting coronation portraits of Edward VII and George V.

The Wonders of Warrington exhibition is part of Warrington Library and Museum's 150th birthday celebrations.
