Plea to thieves who stole 18 months of hard work

A CREWE family is appealing for callous thieves who snatched their daughter's computer to return her missing schoolwork.

Offenders broke into Buerton School, near Nantwich, last week, stealing three desktop computers belonging to the school and a laptop belong to eight-year-old Lauren Whalley, a special needs pupil.

The Dell laptop was worth around £500 - but Lauren's mum Dawn says they would just be happy if the thieves returned Lauren's work.

Dawn, of Crewe Road, Shavington, said: "Inside the carrying bag is a good 18 months of her work and we are just appealing for these people to return this.

"It is no use to them but is irreplaceable and of great sentimental value to us.

"Lauren has severe learning difficulties but the school and staff have been fantastic. It's so sad that this should happen as the school has enough problems."

Anyone who can help recover Lauren's work should contact the Guardian Newsroom on 01270 507500.
