Deadline for budget plans

FOLLOWING the publication of the budget, residents now have a week to have their say.

In a tight timetable, the final budget must be agreed at a meeting of the full council on February 27.

Residents, businessmen and trade union officials have one week to reply with their views before the final document is presented to council.

From next year though, the process will change.

For the first time, Warrington Borough Council has been given their funding allocation from Government for the next three years.

So from autumn 2006, Clr John Morris says people will have a longer time to consider the budget before having their say.

This year, the deadline is next Thursday, February 16 though.
