POLICE have charged two men on suspicion of arson endangering life after a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Winsford.
The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, January 31, when it is claimed the two offenders threw a bottle containing an accelerant at the home on Cleveland Way.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene at 3.30am and the fire was extinguished before it caused serious damage to the property.
Two men, aged 22 and 24, were arrested following the incident and later charged following interviews with police.
Det Sgt Dave Snasdell, from Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "A container containing an accelerant was thrown at the property after what we believe was a verbal argument with a person who lived there.
"The people inside the house were quite shaken and we have now reassured them that we are dealing with the matter.
"I would also like to reassure people on the Mount Pleasant estate that incidents like this are few and far between and we deal with arson extremely seriously.
"The matter is now in the hands of the courts to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion."
Firefighter Ronnie Moore, from Winsford Fire Station, said: "The fire had already been extinguished by the time we reached the scene.
"There was smoke damage to the property and thankfully no one was injured."
The 24-year-old has been remanded in custody related to a separate warrant matter.
