Problem must be addressed

THE spate of abandoned and burned out cars in Winsford has continued after another vehicle was set on fire during the weekend.

The car was left in the Horseshoe service area off Abbotts Way on Saturday night and is the latest in a string of similar incidents.

Mike Kennedy, chairman of Grange Residents' Association, said: "We are really disappointed and dismayed by this.

"There have been quite a few burned out vehicles in recent weeks so it is something I think needs to be addressed."

Police announced a crackdown on burned out and abandoned cars last week and Mr Kennedy is hoping it will be effective.

He said: "I welcome police clamping down on this but unfortunately they can't be everywhere 24 hours a day.

"I think it is down to people to take responsibility and hopefully this spate will pass as soon as possible."
