Learn to cope with pain

LIVING with pain and long-term illness can leave patients depressed, lonely and cranky.

Here's a chance to discover how to relax, reduce depression, manage your medication and take control of your life.

A new 'expert patient programme' has been launched by Halton Primary Care Trust.

It has been specially designed for people living with a long term medical condition such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, back pain, multiple sclerosis and irritable bowel syndrome.

It focuses on relaxation techniques, healthy eating, problem solving, symptom management and techniques, and improving communication skills.

Benefits of the course include improved ability to cope with pain, reduced levels of depression and anxiety and better understanding.

It's also a good opportunity to meet other people and share your experiences.

This six week course starts on Wednesday, March 1 and runs every Wednesday at Ditton Community Centre, Dundalk Road, Widnes.

Places are limited. Call Karen Hampson on 01928-593698 if you are interested.
